It's a strange setting, the wife is heaping and practising the filthiest
of abuses to obtain a mastery in profanity and thinks it's cool to call
konjem konjem as condom condom; the son lacks respect, is indifferent
and sports long unkempt hair, the husband looks like a nerd and makes a
South Indian really appear like one, eating noodles and curd together.
Yet he has the audacity to rope in the God of South Indian Cinema in a guest role to boost the narrative that lacks lustre and threatens to fall apart at regular intervals. He peeps into a woman's blouse for the keys, expressing his hatred for Chinese and takes potshot at a Tamilian's hair (in the form of Ra.One) yet he talks of morals and scruples whenever the script permits.
The picture perfect family attends a launch party of a video game, but the master of the house stays back only to return as a corpse. Reason? He does create virtual characters Ra.One and G.One and the former comes to life with all the powers, more powers because the son desires so and loves to see the villain invincible. Result, he is finished.
The rest of the story needless to elaborate is the tussle between the two One's. A Shekar (Shahrukh Khan) look alike, G.One returns to protect Sonia (Kareena Kapoor) and her son from Ra.One.
When it is a sci-fi thriller, the target audience mostly children, one ought to be careful and keep the drama clean instead you are bombarded with embarassing gay and crotch holding scenes. Rajinikant's appearance could have been done away with, it is included perhaps to avoid any comparisons with Robot.
The film has fabulous Special Effects and it's a major asset and keeps the film from being half baked but the story drags. The mother and son go to India and then again return to London, probably vanquishing Ra.One at the headquarters is a must. Arjun Rampal comes in late, he could have made more impact if he had been there soon after killing Shekar's colleague.
Anubhav Sharma makes the actor go through the grind in looks and also in action scenes and he exudes limitless energy. Despite all the flaws the film holds a magnetic appeal because of Shahrukh Khan and deserves a one time watch for it's making.
